Mr. Anthony Tong
Mr. Tong has been practicing law since 1990. He is the Managing Partner of Robin Bridge & John Liu. Mr. Tong’s practice includes assisting clients on technology transfer and commercialization. He has also supervised and conducted numerous international trade mark, copyright and patent proceedings in Hong Kong, Mainland China, the U.S., Europe and Australia. Mr. Tong has been listed by World Trademark Review (WTR) (i) as the WTR Global Leaders in 2021 and 2022 and (ii) in the Gold Tier of both prosecution and enforcement of trademarks for four consecutive years, 2021-2024. In 2024, Mr. Tong is the only IP practitioner from Hong Kong who has been shortlisted by the Managing IP 2024 Awards as the Asia-Pacific Practitioner of the Year.
Mr. Tong was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Government-funded Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited (ASTRI) since 21 October 2020. He was the Deputy Chairman of the Copyright Tribunal of the Hong Kong Government and had successfully completed the 6-year term on 30 November 2017.
Mr. Eugene Low
Mr. Low is a partner of Hogan Lovells. an all-rounded practitioner handling all areas of contentious and advisory IP and TMT work in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Eugene has extensive experience in all areas of IP including copyright, trade mark, patent, passing off, confidential information, brand protection and domain names. Mr. Low is a notary public and serves as a panellist for the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Asian Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre and other domain name dispute resolution service providers. Mr. Low is a regular contributor for various publications and also a frequent speaker on issues concerning intellectual property, data privacy, domain names and trade descriptions.
Mr. Alan Chiu
Mr. Alan Chiu is the managing partner of ELLALAN. He has over 20 years’ experience in advising both local and multinational companies on the full spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property, technology and entertainment matters, including acquisition and commercialization of IP assets, internal IP audits, pre-IPO due diligence, research collaboration, licensing, franchising, data privacy, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence as well as NFT, cryptocurrency and metaverse related legal issues. He also handled various high profile IP litigation and cross-border enforcement actions concerning copyright, trademark, design and patent infringement. Mr. Chiu is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Hong Kong Shue Yan University, an Accredited Mediator and a China Appointed Attesting Officer appointed by the PRC Ministry of Justice. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Practice Management Committee and a member of the InnoTech Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
Ms. Jacqueline Chu
Ms. Chu was admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of Hong Kong in 2005. She is a Partner of Marks & Clerk Hong Kong. She has been specialising in the intellectual property law practice since 2005. Her practice covers all aspects of intellectual property with a particular focus on trade marks. Jacqueline has extensive experience on both contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters and advises brand owners of various industries on management and protection of IP rights. Jacqueline is currently a Council Member and the President of the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners. She is also a member of the Hong Kong Group of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association.
Mr. Steven Fung
Mr. Fung is a Registered Patent Attorney (Australia and New Zealand) and has over 15 years of experience in the Patent industry. He is an expert on all Patent and Design related matters and is particularly strong in representing originating clients to draft and file Patent Applications for their inventions. He has a strong understanding of various Engineering and Scientific disciplines, with a particularly strong practice in computing, electronic and electrical inventions. Mr. Fung has worked with a broad range of clients ranging from SMEs, Universities, Government Research Labs and International Corporations. He is also heavily involved in the innovation communities of Hong Kong, and is a mentor and assessor for various incubation and entrepreneurship programs. Mr. Fung is also an active member of the Asian Patent Attorney Association (APAA) HK Chapter and is on the Patents Committee of the APAA.
Ms. Anita Leung
Ms. Leung is a solicitor and consultant of David Lo & Partners. She has been a legal practitioner for more than 30 years, advising both local and multinational companies on the full spectrum of both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property and information technology work, including but not limited to mergers, acquisition and commercialization of IP assets, internal IP audits, pre-IPO due diligence, joint ventures, research collaboration, licensing, franchising and distribution etc. She assists clients to establish brand management and protection programs and provides them with strategy and advice on regional and cross border enforcement of their IP rights on all levels, litigating on copyright, trademark, design and patent disputes. Prior to joining David Lo & Partners, she was a partner with Jones Day and Baker McKenzie. Ms. Leung serves as the Vice Chair, Intellectual Property Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong and a member of BIP Asia Forum Steering Committee of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
Mr. Benson Cheung
Mr. Cheung was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong, and was in private practice before joining the Department of Justice of Hong Kong. Mr. Cheung served in the Civil Litigation Unit, representing the Government in immigration-related proceedings and other civil cases. He is now a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Team in the Civil Division. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Team is responsible for implementing major initiatives to promote the development of Hong Kong’s alternative dispute resolution services, mainly mediation and arbitration, so as to strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a leading centre of international legal and dispute resolution services in the Asia Pacific region. The team also provides support to Legal Enhancement and Development Office which coordinates the promotion of different legal and dispute resolution services.
