Study on Contribution of Intellectual Property-Intensive Industries to Hong Kong Economy
The Intellectual Property Department conducted a study on the economic contribution of intellectual property-intensive (IP-intensive) industries to Hong Kong, and published the report in December 2023. The study revealed that, on average over the period of 2019-2021, IP-intensive industries contributed about 33% to the GDP and 29% to the total employment in Hong Kong, and the employees in IP-intensive industries generally earned a higher income than those in non-IP-intensive industries.
